As a Marine veteran and someone who worked with law enforcement for 26 years, I feel the need to respond to some of this. First. Members of the military don't pay for transportation, food, or housing as "cadets" (actually, recruits). Those are supplied by the government. Disabled vets receive disability pay and healthcare from the VA (government). Granted, at times, it sucks. As far as every patrolman or FBI agent going home to a nice comfy bed every night, you need some real schooling. Finally, most combat veterans would be the first to agree that anyone who is going to be the Commander-in-Chief of this country, should truly understand the horror of war. Unfortunately, we have not had such a person since the first Bush presidency. (Jim Sanford, Mira Vista Hills)
