Yes and no. As a veteran myself I really don't care if the president was a vet or not. What I do care about is the chiefs of staffs that the president puts in place. Obama micromanaged his chiefs of staff, where Trump has giving full authority to his. Is either way perfect...not really. ISIS is getting destroyed right now but you don't hear about it on the liberal media. This is a rabbit hole that really shouldn't be discussed on nextdoor I think though. Welcome to discuss over a cup of coffee though sometime. Do soldiers deserve to be paid more. My simple answer is no. Everything is paid for and the money you earn is mostly spending money. When I made it to E6 and recruited out in HB I was making around 6.5k a month. That's pretty good in my opinion. I did have to get my own housing and food though.
By Daniel Priego, Gentrytown.

Dear Daniel: First I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to you for having served our Country, and what that dedication has meant over the years to the life and liberty of our Country. That said, in response to your remark. I too was one of those who was extremely fortunate to have benefitted considerably from my affiliation with the United States Marine Corps. However, out of my platoon I was the only one to enjoy such benefits, and out of my battalion, only two others reaped similar rewards. However, my dad reminded me often of a quote made by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Specifically, "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." You may have heard it similar said by others as, "To those whom much is given, much is expected." Although I was extremely blessed, without those individuals who didn't have what I was blessed to have, I would not have achieved what I have been able to achieve thus far. So many gave so much despite what little they often received in return. Thus, in many instances, rather than getting a bonus or increase in my salary, I would ask my "employers" to spread those funds it around to those who made my efforts possible. There, I want the men and woman to have more; not "just enough." Much gratitude again. Antonio.
